OECD marginally reduces global economic expansion estimate for this year

(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Sep. 21 the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) reduced its global economic expansion estimate for this year by 0.1 percentage points.

OECD's most recent Interim Economic Outlook showed that global gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to surge by 5.7 percent in 2021.

It added: "global GDP has now surpassed its pre-pandemic level, but output and employment gaps remain in many countries, particularly in emerging-market and developing economies where vaccination rates are low."

Stating that the world economic rebound is expected to carry on but stay uneven, the OECD noted the world economy is predicted to expand by 4.5 percent next year, revised up from the prior estimation of 4.4 percent.
