MONTICELLO, IL. (WAND) — The Small Shop Stroll is taking place on March 28th and 29th, as a way to invite customers to shop at local small businesses.
Over 20 small businesses are participating in this year's event, including shops in Moultrie, Douglas, and Piatt counties.
According to Stepheny McMahon, a director of Tuscola Chamber and Tourism, this is the first year that the stroll is taking place, and she's very excited to get some foot traffic into local businesses.
"It's a big part of our jobs of inviting people out to shop local and support the locally owned businesses and small businesses. It's been really fun for us to connect with them," said McMahon.
The Executive Director of the Monticello Area Chamber and co-organizer Shelly Crawford-Stock said events like this are good reminders that those businesses are still there.
"We want to make sure that those folks succeed. So if we do an event like this where we work together with other communities to highlight them, then everyone wins," said Crawford-Stock.
Certain small businesses will be running specials during the event, as well as potential giveaways.
