TANIA Tan set yet another CNMI record in the 5000m event (not 5K as earlier reported) with a time of 17:46.00, which she recorded during the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University in California last week.

“I feel happy to have set another record,” said Tan in an online interview with Variety. “I’ve been wanting to run under 18 minutes officially...so I’m glad to have finally done it.”

Having set records in multiple distances, the real question is: which one does Tan focus on the most?

“To be honest, I don’t have my eyes set on a specific distance to break a…record every time I compete,” she said. “I just always hope to do my best and hopefully come away with a [personal record], which is the main goal.”

Tan expressed her gratitude to everyone back home in the CNMI, especially her parents, for their unwavering support.
