Jeremy Allen White is a short king, and he knows it.
In a red carpet interview at the 2025 Met Gala on Monday, Saturday Night Live star Ego Nwodim asked White if he happened to have caught the most recent episode of the long-running sketch comedy program, in which "we shouted you out in [Quinta Brunson's] monologue."
White affirmed to Nwodim and her fellow Vogue red carpet co-host, musician and actress Teyana Taylor, that he was aware of host Brunson's ode to celebrities of smaller stature — which personally name-dropped the 5'7" star of The Bear.
Not only that, "I was there," he told them, to Nwodim's shock.
In her monologue, the Emmy-winning creator and star of the hit sitcom Abbott Elementary beamed that she's "proof you can do anything you put your mind to, even if people look down on you.... Whether it's because of where you come from or literally because you're only 4'11."
She was joined by the petite pop star Sabrina Carpenter (5') in jazzily serenading short stacks like Olympian Simone Biles (4'8") and actor Tom Holland (5'7").
"It's how we like our movies, and how we like our margins," they sang before a group of synched-up backup dancers, "We've been the same height since kindergarten."
"Yeah, I was there, but it was funny. You all invited me, and then they gave me a heads up, like, 'We're not inviting you to make fun of you,'" Allen joked.
Nwodim enthused, "We have to get you to host at some point," to which Allen replied, "I want to come."

White has never hosted SNL, but like Brunson, he is a newly minted Emmys darling. The New York City-born actor, 34, won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on The Bear in 2023 and 2024, beating stiff competition like Bill Hader, Martin Short, Larry David, and Steve Martin. 2025's nominations haven't yet been announced, but Entertainment Weekly is predicting that White is a shoo-in for a nod in the same category.

The Bear, an intense comedy-drama set in a merciless Chicago kitchen, racked up 21 Primetime Emmys across its first three seasons. In addition to White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Ayo Edebiri have all taken home acting trophies.
FX renewed the series for a fourth season ahead of last year's season 3 premiere, but a release date has not yet been announced.
