Four Queen City-area breweries have solidified their places on that list by bringing home medals during the recent World Beer Cup. The international competition is often called "The Olympics of Beer" and is put on by the Brewers Association, a trade group representing small and independent American craft breweries.
Throughout 14 sessions spanning seven days, a panel of 265 judges from 37 countries evaluated 8,375 entries from 1,761 breweries and cideries across 49 nations and bestowed 349 awards. In short, taking home a medal was no easy feat.
