Vermont fire crews rescue motorist who drove into pond
RUTLAND ON MAY 2ND. THE NEXT WILL BE HELD IN BURLINGTON TOMORROW. TWO FIRE DEPARTMENTS WORKED TOGETHER TO RESCUE AN INJURED PERSON AFTER THEIR CAR WENT IN TO A POND. THE Hinesburg AND Huntington FIRE DEPARTMENTS ARRIVED ON THE SCENE THIS MORNING, WHERE THEY FOUND A CAR 300 FEET OFF THE ROADWAY AND PARTIALLY SUBMERGED WITH ONE PERSON STILL INSIDE. THEY WERE ABLE TO SAFELY GET THE INDIVIDUAL OUT OF THE CAR AND BRING THEM TO SHORE. THE PERSON WAS BROUGHT TO THE HOSPITAL WITH NON LIFE THREATENING INJURIES

Fire crews helped save a driver who crashed their vehicle into a pond in Huntington on Monday.The Hinesburg Fire Department said they were called to help first responders from the Huntington Fire Department after a motorist crashed into a pond early Monday.Crews found the driver still inside the partially-submerged vehicle, which was about 300 feet off the roadway.Rescuers were able to work together to get the driver out of the vehicle and back to land. The victim was then taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.The Hinesburg Fire Department said the rescue effort was a "nearly seamless" operation thanks to aid from its mutual aid partners in Huntington and St. George.It is not clear how the vehicle wound up in the pond.
