Minister Barbara Creecy launches Chris Hani-Cape Town Line, 29 May
The Minister of Transport, Ms. Barbara Creecy and Deputy Minister, Mr. Mkhuleko Hlengwa alongside the PRASA Board and Executive Management, will on Thursday, 29 May 2025, launch the Chris Hani to Cape Town line marking a significant milestone in restoring the Central Line.
This launch follows extensive repair works on stations, substations and Overhead Traction Electrification (OHTE) systems. The Central Line is the largest commuter rail corridor and one of the key Presidential Lines prioritized for recovery and revitalization. This project is a key initiative to enhance public transportation, promote economic growth, and improve the quality of life for commuters.
